Help for Childhood wounds, trauma, anxiety and depression.
Healing is possible, even if you've been carrying emotional pain for years. I specialize in helping adults navigate the lasting effects of trauma, childhood wounds, anxiety, and depression in a safe, compassionate, nonjudgmental space. Early life experiences can shape how we see ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us, often leading to patterns of feeling like too much, increased negative self talk, people-pleasing to avoid conflict, fear of abandonment or trouble with handling emotions. I use evidence-based approaches, including EMDR and trauma-focused therapy. I help you move beyond survival mode.

FAQs About EMDR therapy
-
EMDR helps with childhood trauma due to helping us reconnect with our body. Our bodies can be like filing cabinets which holds stuff for us. Just, like filling cabinets trauma is stored in the body. We can experience it somatically. Sometimes our nervous system still believes the trauma is happening. EMDR helps the brain process information the way the brain was designed.

This really depends on the individual, and how often we have sessions. I usually recommend weekly or bi-weekly sessions so we can get to know each other, build rapport, and resourcing skills. Some clients I see for 6 months and some I see for years. If you are looking for quicker relief and healing, an EMDR intensive could be a good fit. Follow link to page about that.

Great question. No you do not. What I love about EMDR therapy is that we don’t have to list off all the events or details. We let our brains reprocess the way it is designed. I will help guide your through this.

Once we have established good rapport, and treatment goals, we move on to resourcing development and coping skills. Once we are ready we will move into reprocessing the event we picked with bilateral movements, such as tapping, light bar or buzzers. If you are using insurance, this session will be 53-60 minutes long.

Yes.
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain heal from painful experiences that continue to affect your emotions, thoughts, and sense of safety. When difficult experiences become “stuck,” they can contribute to anxiety, depression, trauma symptoms, and negative beliefs about yourself. EMDR supports the natural healing process by helping you reprocess these memories so they feel less overwhelming and no longer have the same hold on your present life. Research supports EMDR as an effective treatment for trauma and related concerns, helping many people experience meaningful and lasting change.
